The Mother Church of Our Lady of Remedies, in neoclassical style, stands out for its grandeur and presents the sobriety and detachment characteristic of this style, in which the great masses oppose to the rhythm of the spans.

In 1787, being the small church for the population, about 2,700 people, began the works of a new temple in place near the old church.

This work, because it was great, cost the people a large sum of money and, due to lack of financial assistance, had its construction paralyzed several times.

The pious lady of Paratiense, Dona Geralda Maria da Silva, was endowed and administered at the end of the work, who for this reason received from the Emperor Dom Pedro II the title of Dona do Paço. On September 7, 1873, the church was handed over to the public worship, preceded by its blessing a procession in which the images of the Church of Santa Rita were transferred to the Mother Church, a custom that remains to this day.

The Mother Church is open from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 12 noon and from 1 pm to 5:30 p.m. On Saturdays, from 8 am to 12 noon and from 1 pm to 4 pm. There is a charge per person.
